N | Compression Music by Luis Codera Puzo
Producer and artistic director Santi Barguñó participates in Compression Music as sound engineer, together with Sarah Maria Sun (voice), Neus Estarellas (piano), Feliu Ribera (percussion) and Luis Codera Puzo (modular synths, samplers, composition). Compression Music (2018) is a full concert piece by Luis Codera Puzo which deepens the very idea of sound. The piece raises the question of how the omnipresent current aesthetics of compressed sound in modern music (characterised by homogenising dynamics and the construction of a compact sound) can meet a classical music criteria based on opposing principles such as realistic acoustics, natural instrument colours and wide dynamic ranges. The text of the piece is a reconstruction of a multitude of fragments of lyrics of pop songs. Compression Music is supported by Fundación BBVA
